Toughened borosilicate glass is a kind of glass made by toughening borosilicate glass (glass mainly composed of SiO2 and b2o2). It is a common glass sheet for mirrors. It is widely used in chemical industry, medicine, metallurgy, electric power, casting, machinery, petrochemical and other fields. The advantages of toughened borosilicate glass are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
1. Good transparency.
Compared with ordinary mirror glass, toughened borosilicate glass is more transparent and more conducive to the operator's observation. This is because borosilicate glass contains few ferrous ions and has no obvious absorption in the visible spectrum, so it appears clear, transparent and colorless.
2. It can resist cold and heat shock
Cold and hot shock resistance is an important feature of toughened borosilicate glass. Experiments show that the cold and thermal shock resistance of glass has a decisive relationship with the expansion coefficient of glass, that is, the smaller the expansion coefficient of glass, the higher the cold and thermal shock resistance and the more stable the heat resistance.
3. The change of glass surface with temperature is very small
Thermal expansion and cold contraction is a common characteristic of all substances in nature. The degree of thermal expansion and cold contraction of different material structures is different, which is closely related to the material structure. The internal structure of toughened borosilicate glass is very close, and its thermal expansion coefficient is very small, so the change of glass surface with temperature is very small.
4. It can withstand high temperature and high pressure
Temperature and pressure are working conditions that often occur in industrial production. Generally, high temperature is generated by the reaction of hot fluid, open fire or substances, and pressure is generated by the flow of liquid and gas or the reaction of substances. Because tempered borosilicate glass contains heat-resistant and pressure-resistant substances, and the pressure-resistant and temperature-resistant properties are further improved after tempering treatment, it can withstand a certain range of temperature and pressure. The specific temperature-resistant value is related to the composition, The withstand voltage value is related to size and shape.
5. Stable chemical properties
The corrosion of tempered borosilicate glass to acid, water and salt is inert, that is, it can still maintain its original physical and chemical properties under the action of chemical factors, is not easy to be damaged by the external chemical environment, and has good chemical stability. After determination, the acid resistance, water resistance and alkali resistance of tempered borosilicate glass are grade 1, grade 1 and grade 2 respectively.
