What are the characteristics of flat welded flange

In the initial stage of forging deformation of flat welded flange, the density increases rapidly because of the easy deformation and small deformation force of the porous preform billet. In the later stage of forging, because most of the voids are closed, the deformation resistance increases, and the deformation force needed to eliminate the residual voids increases rapidly. Deformation resistance is closely related to deformation temperature. Higher deformation temperature is conducive to compaction and decreases deformation resistance. Higher deformation speed is also conducive to the densification of flat welded flange.
Flat welding flange forging process requires more rigorous equipment than traditional die forging. The displacement characteristics of punch must match the deformation and densification characteristics of preform blank. The contact time between blank and die should be as short as possible. Forging press must have good rigidity, moving beam and piston must have good guiding accuracy to ensure the accuracy of forgings. Therefore, mechanical press, such as crankshaft press, or friction press with high precision are generally selected for flat welding flange forging.
Flat welded flange not only saves space and reduces weight, but also ensures that the joint does not leak and has good sealing performance. The reason why the size of compact flange decreases is that the diameter of the seal is reduced, which will reduce the cross section of the sealing surface. Secondly, the flange gasket has been replaced by the sealing ring to ensure that the sealing face matches the sealing face. As the required pressure decreases, the size and quantity of bolts can be reduced accordingly, so a new product with small size and light weight (70%-80% less than the weight of traditional flange) is finally designed. Therefore, flat welding flange is a relatively high quality flange product, which reduces the quality and space, and plays an important role in industrial applications.
