Brief description of raw material preparation process for quartz instrument

The purpose of raw material processing is to reduce impurity content and obtain a certain size. The main processing procedures include:
(1) Calcination and water quenching of quartz ore;
(2) Fragmentation, grinding and screening of quartz;
(3) Physical, chemical and manual beneficiation.
Because of the high hardness and low crushing efficiency of quartz ore, the crushing efficiency can be improved after calcination and water quenching treatment. Crystalline phase transformation occurs during high temperature calcination of quartz ore, and volume expansion leads to fragmentation. Calcination of quartz ore is also conducive to fracturing and exhaust of inclusions. Grinding and screening also affect particle shape and screening efficiency.
Chemical beneficiation uses the difference of solubility between impurity minerals and quartz in hydrofluoric acid solution to purify quartz raw material. Figure 1 shows the difference in solubility between crystal and mica in hydrofluoric acid solution. Flotation can be used to remove associated minerals such as mica, feldspar and metal ore in quartz. According to the crystallization chemical characteristics of associated minerals, the particularities that determine and influence the surface properties of minerals are found out. Then, according to the action mechanism of reagents on the surface of quartz glass tube, appropriate flotation process is selected to separate quartz from impurity minerals.
