A brief introduction to the principle of low borosilicate medical glass tube
The purpose is to eliminate the permanent stress and structural imbalance in glass products. Glass is a bad heat conductor. After the product is formed, the temperature difference between the surface layer and the inner layer occurs in the process of cooling. When the surface layer is solidified and the inner layer is viscous, the temperature difference exists and the stress relaxation does not exist. When the surface layer is cooled to room temperature, the inner layer continues to cool and contract, which is blocked by the surface layer to produce tensile stress, and at the same time, the surface layer produces compressive stress, which is permanent. The size and distribution of the permanent stress caused by the thermal process in each part of the products are not uniform, so it will affect the strength of the glass products, and even self rupture due to the stress concentration. Annealing can eliminate harmful tension and prevent new stress in glass.
During annealing, the glass products are heated or the stainless steel wire rope is kept to the annealing temperature after hot forming to relax and eliminate the original stress, and then it is slowly cooled to below the strain temperature. After the glass completely enters the rigid body state, the temperature difference between the inner and outer layers only produces temporary stress. Due to the huge viscosity of some glasses (such as optical glass and thermometer glass) with properties and functions in the range of transition temperature, the movement of structural particles is slow, resulting in its performance can not reach the balance state consistent with the temperature, and performance changes will occur due to slow balance in use. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain enough time at annealing temperature.
