Safety
When the glass is damaged by external force, the fragments will become small obtuse-angled fragments similar to honeycombs, which are not easy to cause serious harm to the human body.
High strength
The impact strength of tempered glass of the same thickness is 3 to 5 times that of ordinary glass, and the bending strength is 3 to 5 times that of ordinary glass.
Thermal stability
Tempered glass has good thermal stability and can withstand a temperature difference of 3 times that of ordinary glass, and can withstand a temperature difference of 300°C.
Advantages
The first is that the strength is several times higher than that of ordinary glass, and it is resistant to bending.
The second is safety in use. Its increased bearing capacity improves its fragile nature. Even if tempered glass is broken, it will be small fragments without sharp angles, which greatly reduces the harm to the human body. The resistance of tempered glass to rapid cooling and heating is 3 to 5 times higher than that of ordinary glass. It can generally withstand temperature changes of more than 250 degrees, which has a significant effect on preventing thermal cracking. It is a kind of safety glass. It provides qualified material safety for high-rise buildings.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of tempered glass:
1. Tempered glass can no longer be cut and processed. It can only be processed to the required shape before tempering, and then tempered.
2. Although tempered glass is stronger than ordinary glass, tempered glass has the possibility of self-explosion (breaking by itself), while ordinary glass does not have the possibility of self-explosion.
3. The surface of tempered glass will be uneven (wind spots) and slightly thinner. The reason for thinning is that after the glass softens in the hot melt, it is cooled quickly by strong wind, which makes the crystal gap inside the glass smaller and the pressure greater, so the glass is thinner after tempering than before tempering. Generally, 4~6mm glass becomes thinner by 0.2~0.8mm after tempering, and 8~20mm glass becomes thinner by 0.9~1.8mm after tempering. The specific degree depends on the equipment, which is also the reason why tempered glass cannot be made into mirror.
4. Flat glass used in buildings after passing through the tempering furnace (physical tempering) generally has deformation, and the degree of deformation is determined by the equipment and the process of the technicians. To a certain extent, it affects the decorative effect (except for special needs).
